Chautauqua Festival to Become the
Gladstone Cultural Festival!
Due to unfortunate funding issues, the previously formed Chautauqua group has had to cancel the event.
However, a group of local citizens along with the Oak Grove/Gladstone Rotary have  committed to hosting a new event
called the 'Gladstone Cultural Festival'.   This new festival will have elements of our historic event as well as
adding some new ones that they hope will make this a first class Gladstone community gathering.
The Gladstone Cultural Festival will be held August 2-4th.
Follow the link below for more information.

Help Us Save the Historic Portland Avenue Trolley Bridge!
An effort is under way to save the historic Portland Avenue Trolley Bridge over the Clackamas River, to turn it into a
pedestrian/bike bridge extension of the existing Trolley Trail that currently ends at Portland Avenue and Abernathy.
A grant application has been submitted to Metro to cover the feasibility study...to determine the costs of structural repairs, refurbishment, trail annex and maintenance costs.
The grant request is currently being considered and positive public comment is always appreciated.   There are many benefits to this project, so if you are interested in
more information send us an email or keep checking back.   I will post more as we move forward.     info@savegladstone.org

Save Gladstone Members Ask City Councilors to resign

Kim Sieckmann Presentation to the Gladstone City Council
Tuesday, December 11th  7:30pm

Last month I chose not to speak on the November 6th election results.  I wanted to hear what you had to say.
What amazed me is you spoke about the Police and Fire levies.  It most likely cost the city a few hours of the city attorney’s time.  You spoke about the new councilor that will take his seat in January.  This cost the city nothing.  If the city administrator would not have spoken up and said there was another ballot measure 3-413, you would have bypassed it all together.  It’s amazing to me the ballot measure that the city has invested $1.2 million and countless hours of staff time was not even going to be discussed!  ...

Kevin Johnson Presentation to the Gladstone City Council
Tuesday, December 11th 7:30pm

I
was expecting more discussion last month about the election. Specifically the library measure.  Maybe even an apology from the Mayor and some of the Council.  An apology to the people who devoted their time on the design committee on a plan that was ill conceived from the start.  An apology to the people who rose up and spent thousands of dollars of their own money and hundreds of hours to force this council to do what they should have done at the beginning, get a vote. These dollars and hours are lost and our forgiveness will be slow.  An apology especially to the taxpayers of Gladstone who now have lost $1.2 million of their hard earned money-$250,000 after you were told by numerous people this very thing could happen.
